Speaking Into A Microphone

One of the biggest reasons why a child (or even adults) dread public speaking is listening to their voice coming out of the speakers. It's a frustrating feeling. Firstly, we often don't recognise our voices coming out of a speaker, and then wonder why we feel as though we are the only ones who think that. Our family and friends don't seem to hear any difference but we do. In this course, I'll teach your child to learn to love their voice. We cover why we sound "weird" coming out of the speaker, then I train them to accept that that is how they actually sound like to others listening. I teach them to accept that fact by repeated exposure to their voice coupled with voice exercises. We cover:
- the types of microphones available,
- why there are so many types of microphones,
- how a microphone works,
- microphone polarity,
- microphone placement (that sweet spot!)
- the proximity effect,
- reducing the plosive sounds
- using pop filters and windshields
This course is similar to Public Speaking however focuses specifically on gaining microphone knowledge and confidence.
After your child is confident with a microphone, we could move to other courses and methodically go through our 4 step approach covering stretches, posture & alignment, and breath work using my specially designed VoIXStraw™. Remember, a good speaker is only as good as her or his breath control and vocal resonance! We will also dive into articulation, enunciation, inflection and all the aspects of clear and persuasive speech. All this work will then tie into speaking into a microphone and enhance their public speaking confidence. Yes they are all related in some way or another.

Overall, this course aims to prepare your child to understand a microphone, speak into one with ease, love the voice that they hear coming out of the speaker, and eventually, speak with absolute confidence in front of anyone!
