CHANGE THE WAY THE WORLD SEES YOU

What I do.
"At Speak Like A Pro, I don't just teach you to speak - I teach you to be heard, seen, and remembered. I help you turn your fear into freedom, internal power into external presence"

Why?
Because when you find your voice, you change your life.

Benefits of Voice & Speech Lessons
Your voice is a reflection of your condition the very moment you open your mouth to speak. It's the sum total of your anatomy, physiology, neurology, cultural background, health and psychological status. Your ability to speak proficiently, confidently, and effectively can have a profound impact on your progress in life. Sadly, those who fail to speak-up tend to go unnoticed, have fewer friends, miss out on leadership opportunities, and have lower self-esteem. This is sad, but very true. Here's a conservative list of the benefits of voice and speech lessons and how it can help bolster your confidence to succeed at work, relationships, and life!
Articulation & Resonance
Proper articulation makes you understandable. A resonant voice makes others want to listen to you.
Breath Control
The extensive breathing exercises practiced eventually gives you great control over your breath leading to better speech, overall fitness and mental agility.
Emotionality & Expressiveness
Your voice has an intimate relationship with emotions. It induces emotions! Studying voice releases and frees one's emotions and expressiveness.
Confidence
Posture & Alignment
Mental Clarity
Your voice is a mirror of yourself; your inner thoughts. A confident voice is a confident you.
Voice work involves training you to posture and balance well to release tensions and allow natural movement and poise.
A relaxed tongue, jaw, lips and body allow your thoughts to flow with clarity and purpose.
Respiratory Fitness
Mobility & Flexibility
Reading Fluency
Voice study involves a large amount of focused breath-work from a combination of modern and ancient (eg. yoga, Zen) practice.
The exercises and stretches practiced in voice work covers the entire body; not just the throat. You speak with your whole body!
Releasing tensions in the tongue, jaw, and voice box improves text accuracy, speed, and expressiveness of reading.

STEP 1
Assessment
At this first step, my focus is on getting to know you. I'll make careful assessments of speech patterns and habits, both good and bad! We discuss your struggles and goals. This is important because everyone has different issues holding them back from freedom and this is the stage we iron that out. It's a time to just be yourself and allow me to tailor a program specific to you or your child's needs. Yes, it is a robust syllabus but it will be adjusted to your needs.

STEP 2
Preparation
You see, just like an Olympic swimmer requires many (many!) hours of warm-ups, exercise routines, and hundreds of hours in the pool, being a great orator is no different. You need to develop good habits. Get rid or replace the bad ones you've been doing all these years. Yup, you'll need to warm-up, stretch, relax yourself, be more self-conscious of your alignment and tensions, and allow the voice to resonate. We cover warm-up's, stretching, body alignment, and most importantly, breath work! Yes we'll be doing intensive breath-work because a speaker is only as good as his or her fine control over the breath. All this requires lots of practice! Actors take years to achieve vocal excellence. Think Morgan Freeman or Jeremy Irons. This step is (I promise you!) absolutely life changing! Even if you don't become the next Obama or Malala, you'll surely gain more confidence and freedom as an individual.

STEP 3
Training
Now we move to the more nuanced parts of speech. The fine tuning of the voice. We cover articulation, enunciation, pauses, inflections, melody, pace, tone, body posture, and vocal freedom (not projection!) In other words, how do you read a grocery list and yet sound captivating! How do you stand on stage, look the crowd in the eyes, and deliver a speech with confidence and charisma? Yes absolutely anyone can master these skills. Well I did! So anyone can :)

STEP 4
Action
Ok now this is where the tire hits the road! We speak into a mic. Put on a RODE headset and learn to love our voice coming out of a speaker. How do we speak into a mic? Where do we speak to when using a mic? I video record your movement and analyse it for improvement. By this time, if you had diligently practiced all the material we covered, you will be able to stand (or sit!) and deliver that speech. You will be a more confident person as compared to when you first started.
